Introducing ED VIBE
Let us start by saving you the time trying to figure out what V.I.B.E stands for. Vibe is not an acronym of catchy words that we pulled together. It's not an afterthought or trend that we are trying to follow. Vibe is a feeling. It's that invisible thing that you subconsciously read when you meet someone new. An energy that you feel when you're with other people. A sentiment that leaves you feeling like you want to go back. Go back to a place where you feel like you belong, a place where you want to grow and do great things.
Building on the success of its predecessors, VIBE is EllisDon's new employee-led leadership group focused on taking concrete actions to combat anti-Black racism. It's not just a symbol of allyship, it embraces it at its core. Chris Grant and Shawn Evans will co-chair ED VIBE and demonstrate the visible leadership and allyship that can enact and inspire lasting change at EllisDon and beyond.
"I'm excited to continue the conversation at EllisDon, and within the industry about anti-Black Racism and the role that we all play to create an environment that is safe and respectful for everyone. Real change can only come when people come together and work towards a common goal, and that's what VIBE is all about - creating a feeling of belonging, kindness and inclusion" - Chris Grant
"Allyship is putting words into action. Change is required, and as an ally, I'm grateful to be given the opportunity to put action into fighting anti-Black racism in all its forms in our industry, and prioritizing the amplification of inclusion and diversity." - Shawn Evans
We're not just looking for "good vibes only". We're looking for real ones. The ones that allow us to continue the conversation about anti-Black racism. The ones that challenge the status quo and push us towards how we want the world to be, not just how it is. The ones that help us all to feel like we belong.
VIBE is just getting started, so stay tuned for more. If you'd like to get involved with ED VIBE, please reach out to [email protected].
